Série e Livro da Semana, The Handmaid´s Tale, Margaret Atwood

Set in a dystopian future, a woman is forced to live as a concubine under a fundamentalist theocratic dictatorship.

Uma série relativamente nova, apenas cinco episódios disponíveis ainda, mas já agarrou a minha atenção.

Baseada no livro de Margaret Atwood, com o mesmo titulo, a história é tão envolvente e perturbadora que nos faz devorá-la. 

O melhor desta obra é que ambos, livro e série, são extremamente tocantes. E quando digo tocantes não digo de uma forma sensível, mas de uma maneira intrusiva, desconfortável e perturbadora.

Como mulher é uma obrigação moral ver e ler. 

It is the world of the near future, and Offred is a Handmaid in the home of the Commander and his wife. She is allowed out once a day to the food market, she is not permitted to read, and she is hoping the Commander makes her pregnant, because she is only valued if her ovaries are viable. Offred can remember the years before, when she was an independent woman, had a job of her own, a husband and child. But all of that is gone now...everything has changed.

Não é uma leitura das mais fáceis. Eu li em inglês e gostei imenso. Acho que é uma das obras que nos dá mais na sua língua nativa. 

O livro consegue, como é costume, superar a série. Pode ser bastante pesado mas uma leitura muito boa.
