A poucas horas da entrega dos prémios, ficam aqui os últimos filmes nomeados. Podem ver a minha opinião sobre os restantes aqui e aqui. 

Call Me By Yout Name 

It's the summer of 1983 in the north of Italy, and Elio Perlman, a precocious 17- year-old American-Italian, spends his days in his family's 17th century villa transcribing and playing classical music, reading, and flirting with his friend Marzia. Elio enjoys a close relationship with his father, an eminent professor specializing in Greco-Roman culture, and his mother Annella, a translator, who favor him with the fruits of high culture in a setting that overflows with natural delights. While Elio's sophistication and intellectual gifts suggest he is already a fully-fledged adult, there is much that yet remains innocent and unformed about him, particularly about matters of the heart. One day, Oliver, a charming American scholar working on his doctorate, arrives as the annual summer intern tasked with helping Elio's father. Amid the sun-drenched splendor of the setting, Elio and Oliver discover the heady beauty of awakening desire over the course of a summer that will alter their lives forever.

Simplesmente, adorei este filme. É uma história envolvente, personagens muito densas e uma verdadeira lição de vida. Além de me enamorar pela filme fiquei com vontade de embarcar para Itália amanhã. Para finalizar, este é um dos melhores monólogos que vi nos últimos anos. 

“In my place, most parents would hope the whole thing goes away, or pray that their sons land on their feet soon enough,” Mr. Perlman says. “But I am not such a parent. In your place, if there is pain, nurse it, and if there is a flame, don’t snuff it out, don’t be brutal with it. Withdrawal can be a terrible thing when it keeps us awake at night, and watching others forget us sooner than we’d want to be forgotten is no better. We rip out so much of ourselves to be cured of things faster than we should that we go bankrupt by the age of 30 and have less to offer each time we start with someone new. But to feel nothing so as not to feel anything—what a waste!”

Phantom Thread

Set in 1950's London, Reynolds Woodcock is a renowned dressmaker whose fastidious life is disrupted by a young, strong-willed woman, Alma, who becomes his muse and lover.

Daniel Day-Lewis é um dos grandes e o seu papel foi brilhante. A história é envolvente mas eu, além de gostar de filmes que me deixem perdida, não gosto de filmes que me deixam em branco. E este deixou-me. Normalmente no fim de cada filme a minha cabeça viaja por hipóteses e novos caminhos mas após ver este filme a única coisa que consigo dizer é que os actores foram magníficos mas a história não me chega. Não me comove, não me transforma, não me emociona. Nada. 

Agora com todos os filmes nomeados para o grande prémio vistos, e mais alguns que também estão nomeados, vamos às apostas.

Para mim The Shape of Water é o melhor filme, seguido por Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri e Call Me By Your Name. Gary Oldman leva o melhor actor e Frances McDormand leva o de melhor atriz. Sam Rockwell e Allison Janney ganham os actores secundários.

E para finalizar o melhor filme de animação vai para Coco, que é fofinho, fofinho.

Oscars 2018 - Filmes nomeados #2

Hoje vou continuar a minha viagem pelos filmes nomeados para os Oscars de 2018. Hoje trago três nomeados, onde estão para mim os grandes vencedores deste ano. 

Darkest Hour 

During the early days of World War II, the fate of Western Europe hangs on the newly-appointed British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who must decide whether to negotiate with Adolf Hitler, or fight on against incredible odds.

Não é o favorito ao melhor filme mas tem, sem dúvida, o actor favorito. Que grande papel de Gary Oldman. É uma interpretação brilhante num filme muito interessante para quem gosta da temática da Segunda Guerra Mundial. 

Lady Bird

Christine "Lady Bird" McPherson fights against but is exactly like her wildly loving, deeply opinionated and strong-willed mom, a nurse working tirelessly to keep her family afloat after Lady Bird's father loses his job. Set in Sacramento, California in 2002, amidst a rapidly shifting American economic landscape, Lady Bird is an affecting look at the relationships that shape us, the beliefs that define us, and the unmatched beauty of a place called home.

Lady Bird é, na minha opinião, um pouco como La La Land. Um bom filme levado num hype ainda maior. Toda a história assim como as interpretações são boas mas não faz dele uma obra-prima. É um filme que aborda de uma forma crua as relações e sobretudo as atitudes tão próprias dos adolescentes, a procura de uma identidade e dos seus sonhos.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

After months have passed without a culprit in her daughter's murder case, Mildred Hayes makes a bold move, painting three signs leading into her town with a controversial message directed at William Willoughby, the town's revered chief of police. When his second-in-command Officer Dixon, an immature mother's boy with a penchant for violence, gets involved, the battle between Mildred and Ebbing's law enforcement is only exacerbated.

Não sendo o meu favorito, está no segundo lugar e vai levar o prémio. Se The Shape of Water, o meu favorito, é um conto de fadas, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri é um murro no estômago de tão real. É um filme com uma dinâmica incrível e um papelão de Frances McDormand que vai levar o Óscar. É um grande filme, para quem ainda não viu precisa de ver.

Com data marcada e nomeados anunciados, os Oscars estão aí e eu já comecei a ver os filmes nomeados e a escolher favoritos.

Get Out

Now that Chris and his girlfriend, Rose, have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway upstate with Missy and Dean. At first, Chris reads the family's overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter's interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he could have never imagined.

Quando vi o filme não estava à espera de nada do que se tornou. Durante todo o filme senti um incómodo crescente, não só pela perplexidade perante a narrativa, como pela metáfora fabulosa que é este filme. Se é o meu favorito? Não, está longe disso. Mas consegue atingir uma discussão muito necessária, mesmo que a sua fluidez não seja sempre a mais clara. 

Dunkirk

Acclaimed auteur Christopher Nolan directs this World War II thriller about the evacuation of Allied troops from the French city of Dunkirk before Nazi forces can take hold. Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh and Mark Rylance co-star, with longtime Nolan collaborator Hans Zimmer providing the score.

Acusem-me de falta de intelectualidade, de falta de conhecimento cinematográfico, mas sendo eu uma apaixonada por documentários e filmes históricos, achei Dunkirk uma seca tremenda.

É interessante a exploração da história de várias perspectivas mas tirando isso, não lhe consigo achar interesse. 

The Post

Steven Spielberg directs Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks in The Post, a thrilling drama about the unlikely partnership between The Washington Post's Katharine Graham (Streep), the first female publisher of a major American newspaper, and editor Ben Bradlee (Hanks), as they race to catch up with The New York Times to expose a massive cover-up of government secrets that spanned three decades and four U.S. Presidents. The two must overcome their differences as they risk their careers - and their very freedom - to help bring long-buried truths to light. 

Um filmão. Não é por acaso que temos Streep, Hanks e Spielberg a trabalhar juntos num filme produzido em sete meses e com uma história tão real e actual que chega a arrepiar.

Além de falar de factos reais, mostra uma realidade que nos é longínqua mas ao mesmo tempo muito actual. Meryl Streep está mais uma vez maravilhosa.

The Shape of Water

From master story teller, Guillermo del Toro, comes THE SHAPE OF WATER - an other-worldly fairy tale, set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1962. In the hidden high-security government laboratory where she works, lonely Elisa (Sally Hawkins) is trapped in a life of isolation. Elisa's life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret classified experiment. 

Nas horas após ver este filme, juro que o meu coração inchava ao pensar nele. Amor, é a única palavra que o pode definir.

A história é linda, os personagens incríveis, a banda sonora maravilhosa. Ainda me emociono a pensar nele e é sem dúvida o meu favorito deste ano.

Oscars 2017 - Filmes nomeados #2

Voltamos a falar dos filmes nomeados para os Oscars deste ano, desta com a restante lista dos nomeados.

Manchester by the Sea

After the death of his older brother Joe (Kyle Chandler), Lee Chandler (Casey Affleck) is shocked to learn that Joe has made him sole guardian of his nephew Patrick (Lucas Hedges). Taking leave of his job, Lee reluctantly returns to Manchester-by-the-Sea to care for Patrick, a spirited 16-year-old, and is forced to deal with a past that separated him from his wife Randi (Michelle Williams) and the community where he was born and raised. Bonded by the man who held their family together, Lee and Patrick struggle to adjust to a world without him.

Que filme bom. Uma história triste, carregada de mágoa e remorso, com uma interpretação maravilhosa de Casey Affleck. 

Gostei imenso do filme, no entanto, há algo que me incomoda muito. Não sendo fã da Michelle Williams, consigo abstrair-me e apreciar o seu trabalho, mas ser nomeada por este papel é ultraje. A cena retratada no cartaz é salva exclusivamente pelo brilhantismo do actor.

Para ver e rever.

Hidden Figures

HIDDEN FIGURES is the incredible untold story of Katherine G. Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe)-brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation's confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.

Sabem aqueles filmes que após acabarem temos a vontade de conquistar o mundo? De realizar e criar coisas? Este é um deles.

Gosto de histórias verídicas, gosto de conhecer as histórias inspiradoras de anónimos. E este é um filme inspirador. 

O racismo e machismo de mãos dadas, mulheres inteligentes e bem formadas e uma luta constante de evolução é a receita para um dos meus filmes favoritos desta lista. 

Hell and High Water

Texas brothers--Toby (Chris Pine), and Tanner (Ben Foster), come together after years divided to rob branches of the bank threatening to foreclose on their family land. For them, the hold-ups are just part of a last-ditch scheme to take back a future that seemed to have been stolen from under them. Justice seems to be theirs, until they find themselves on the radar of Texas Ranger, Marcus (Jeff Bridges) looking for one last grand pursuit on the eve of his retirement, and his half-Comanche partner, Alberto (Gil Birmingham). As the brothers plot a final bank heist to complete their scheme, and with the Rangers on their heels, a showdown looms at the crossroads where the values of the Old and New West murderously collide.

Cru. Forte. Dramático. Gostei tanto deste filme. 

Tenho de começar por dizer que adoro o Jeff Bridges. Acho-o um dos grandes de Hollywood e é raro o trabalho de que não gosto. Este não é excepção. Se a dupla de irmãos tem uma dinâmica fantástica, é a presença de Bridges que faz deste um filme a lembrar daqui a alguns anos. 

Para mim, o Oscar de actor secundário está mais que entregue. 

La la land 

Written and directed by Academy Award (R) nominee Damien Chazelle, LA LA LAND tells the story of Mia [Emma Stone], an aspiring actress, and Sebastian [Ryan Gosling], a dedicated jazz musician, who are struggling to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts. Set in modern day Los Angeles, this original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams.

Este foi o filme mais difícil de assistir por uma questão. Ouvi tanta coisa antes que tive dificuldade de me abster delas. A critica é quase unânime, ganhou quase tudo a que estava nomeado e o público está apaixonado. 

Eu gostei. Não acho que seja uma obra de arte, não acho que mereça as 14 nomeações, que o elevam a clássicos monstruosos como o Titanic ou o Senhor dos Anéis. 

É um filme bonito, uma história muito bem contada. Mas é um musical e eu detesto musicais.

Não é um dos meus favoritos mas provavelmente vai ser o vencedor.

Lion 

Five-year-old Saroo gets lost on a train which takes him thousands of Kilometers across India, away from home and family. Saroo must learn to survive alone in Kolkata, before ultimately being adopted by an Australian couple. Twenty-five years later, armed with only a handful of memories, his unwavering determination, and a revolutionary technology known as Google Earth, he sets out to find his lost family and finally return to his first home.

Não esperava gostar deste filme. Normalmente não aprecio filmes que puxem à lágrima e este pareceu-me isso. Mas estava enganada. Uma história verídica, um filme emotivo, uma história muito bonita. Gosto especialmente das cenas onde aparece o pequeno Saroo, que cara amorosa!

Foi uma surpresa no entanto não acredito que seja uma aposta vencedora de Oscar.

A uma semana dos Oscars, a corrida para ver todos os filmes nomeados vai a todo o vapor.

Este é o primeiro de dois posts sobre os filmes nomeados, as minhas considerações e desilusões.

Sim, houve uma enorme!

Arrival

When mysterious spacecraft touch down across the globe, an elite team--lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams)--are brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers--and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.

O primeiro dos nomeados que vi, faz parte dos meus favoritos de 2016. Acho um filme mesmo muito bom, que saí da normalização do que são filmes com extraterrestres.

Amy Adams maravilhosa, como sempre.

Além de tudo, não é um dos meus favoritos à vitória.

Fences

Denzel Washington directed and stars in this adaptation of August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, which centers on a black garbage collector named Troy Maxson in 1950s Pittsburgh. Bitter that baseball's color barrier was only broken after his own heyday in the Negro Leagues, Maxson is prone to taking out his frustrations on his loved ones. Both Washington and co-star Viola Davis won Tonys for their performances in the 2010 revival of the play. Stephen Henderson, Jovan Adepo, Russell Hornsby, and Mykelti Williamson round out the supporting cast.

Um dos meus favoritos! Há algumas criticas relativas à composição do filme, que quase parece uma peça, mas é uma obra de arte de Denzel Washington e Viola Davis, Que actores!

Os diálogos são maravilhosos, as interpretações fantásticas e uma história que nos prende e faz reflectir no decorrer do filme. Muito bom

Hacksaw Ridge

HACKSAW RIDGE is the extraordinary true story of Desmond Doss [Andrew Garfield] who, in Okinawa during the bloodiest battle of WWII, saved 75 men without firing or carrying a gun. He was the only American soldier in WWII to fight on the front lines without a weapon, as he believed that while the war was justified, killing was nevertheless wrong. As an army medic, he single-handedly evacuated the wounded from behind enemy lines, braved fire while tending to soldiers and was wounded by a grenade and hit by snipers. Doss was the first conscientious objector to ever earn the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Uma surpresa. Eu gosto de filmes de guerra. A dureza e violência também precisam ser vistas para sabermos o que não fazer mais. Mas este filme é mais que isso, é um filme de coragem e resiliência. De valores. 

Há momentos de violência que impressionam mas há também momentos belíssimos. 

Moonlight

The tender, heartbreaking story of a young man's struggle to find himself, told across three defining chapters in his life as he experiences the ecstasy, pain, and beauty of falling in love, while grappling with his own sexuality.

Vi o trailer e pus as minhas cartas todas neste filme. Maior desilusão. 

A premissa é maravilhosa, tinha tudo para ser o meu filme do ano, mas simplesmente ficou pelo caminho. 

Uma cronologia estranha, cenas forçadas e uma falta de força que não deixa dúvidas à desilusão. Queria tanto que fosse bom.

Sobre a noite dos Óscares

O Leo ganhou, Mad Max levou os técnicos, o Chris Rock arrasou no monólogo e um dos meus dois filmes favoritos na corrida ganhou o melhor filme. Uma boa noite, portanto.

Eu sou espectadora anual dos Óscares. Todos os anos, eu e o E vemos a cerimónia e escolhemos os nossos favoritos. Já aconteceu de estarmos num país em que o fuso era ainda pior do de Portugal e mesmo assim assistirmos à cerimónia.
Este ano a grande expectativa era mesmo para o Óscar de melhor ator. Sinceramente, não gostei do The Revenant e não acho que foi a melhor interpretação do Leo ao longo dos anos, mas acho que era impossível não o ganhar.

Fiquei felicssima que o Spotlight ganhou. Conjuntamente com o Room, era a minha escolha. Acho o filme muito bem contado e com uma temática importantíssima.

Passadeira Vermelha

Na passadeira vermelha, os vestidos favoritos.

Charlize Theron com o seu Dior, a mostrar ao mundo o que é ser uma mulher deusa. A beleza dela é assombrosa. 

Rooney Mara em Givenchy, a demonstrar como é possível usar vestidos com cortes frontais sem ser, minimamente, vulgar. Maravilhosa.

O meu vestido favorito. Rachel McAdams em August Getty. Adoro a cor, adoro o corte. As costas senhoras, as costas são uma obra de arte. Não há nada que me seduza mais que um vestido bem decotado nas costas sem perder nenhuma elegância. 

Momento Fofura

Quero adotar este miúdo! Depois do papelão que faz no filme Room, Jacob Tremblay revelou-se uma fofura andante.

Aqui mostra como é fã de Star Wars. Mais tarde na noite teve a oportunidade de pousar ao lado dos droides mais famosos do mundo.

Na festa da Vanity Fair, Diane Kruger a ensinar as Kardashians e Beyoncés desta vida como usar um naked dress. 

É muita elegância para uma mulher só.
